About the Young WACA

Members of the Young WACA is under the WACA and it supports the efforts of local areas, communities  across Westchesters county  to nurture the their  growth and  help them reach their full potential . This support comes in many forms, including, but not limited to:

Youth-led activities of music and art

Youth-organized Competition and forums

Youth group activities

Leadership seminars

Youth-led community service  projects

The Young WACA also partners with other related originations encouraging collaboration in the development of resources and maintaining contact with youth, young adults, and college students of all ages.

The Young WACA always welcomes those who are interested in joining our efforts, and asks you to join us.

Following an enormous success for the past several annual celebrations, the Westchester Association of Chinese Americans (WACA) will hold 2018 Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 2pm to 6pm at

For this Year of the Dog, the theme of the celebration is “Culture and Traditions of the Chinese New Year Festival”. It features in lion dance, art gallery, calligraphy, Chinese painting and hand crafts, as well as Chinese musical instruments performances, plus popular and delicous Chinese traditional food and snack samplings. On top of all these activtiies, there will be a formal program of artistic performances by the professional artists, the local art groups, and the professional acrobatics by a team from China.

Please come and join us in the 2019 Chinese New Year Celebration to be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 (2:00 to 6:00 pm) at the Performing Arts Center, SUNY Purchase College.

For the propitious Year of the Pig, the theme of the celebration is “the Culture and Tradition of the Chinese New Year Festival.” It will feature Chinese cuisine presentation and food sampling provided by the local Asian restaurants, bakeries and/or individuals; an art gallery showcasing artworks, calligraphy and Chinese painting; handcraft demonstrations such as paper cutting, origami and traditional costumes; martial arts demonstrations including Tai Chi and Lion Dance; as well as Chinese musical instruments performances. On top of all this, there will be a formal program of various performances by professional artists and local art groups, including but not limited to the Chinese acrobatics.

This year happens to mark the 30th anniversary of the Chinese New Year celebration event organized by the Westchester Association of Chinese Americans (WACA). WACA, as in previous years, will hold the upcoming 2019 celebration with generous support from local businesses and organizations.

So, please come and spend an afternoon with us to enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, to learn about the rich history and culture of China, and to taste the delicacies that this culture has to offer.
